EXCLUSIVE: Sosie Bacon (“Smile”, “Mare of Easttown”), Amanda Righetti (“Reagan”, “The Mentalist”), Janet Montgomery (“1923”, “New Amsterdam”), Stephanie Faracy (“Nobody Wants This”, “Uncoupled”) and Mike Vogel (“Sex/Life”) have joined the recurring cast of Prime Video‘s Scarpetta.
They join the previously announced Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, who will both also executive produce; Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, Rosy McEwen, Jake Cannavale and Ariana DeBose.
Based on Patricia Cornwell’s best-selling book series, Scarpetta follows Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), Chief Medical Examiner, as she returns to Virginia and resumes her former position with complex relationships, both personal and professional – including her sister Dorothy (Curtis), with plenty of grudges and secrets to uncover.
Bacon plays Abby Turnball, a prize-winning reporter; Righetti plays Past Dorothy; Montgomery plays Janet, Lucy’s wife; Faracy plays Present Maggie, Scarpetta’s inherited assistant from her predecessor; Vogel plays city attorney Bill Boltz.
The series was officially picked up for two seasons earlier this month with Deadline exclusively revealing the project was in the works in early 2023.
Liz Sarnoff (“Barry”, “Lost”) will write, executive produce, and showrun. David Gordon Green (“Halloween”, “Stronger”) is set to direct the first two episodes.
Kidman will executive produce for Blossom Films, and Curtis will executive produce for Comet Pictures. Cornwell will executive produce for P & S Projects alongside Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, and Chris McCumber for Blumhouse Television and Per Saari for Blossom Films. David Gordon Green and Amy Sayres also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Blumhouse Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Blossom Films and Comet Pictures.
Vogel most recently starred in the second season of Netflix’s series “Sex/Life” opposite Sarah Shahi, as well as the independent film “Collection” for director Marianna Palka, and Netflix’s thriller Secret Obsession. Other recent works include American Horror Story for FX and Fantasy Island for Columbia Pictures. He is repped by Gersh and Manager Geordie Frey.
