EXCLUSIVE: Writer-director Ryan Whitaker has rounded out the cast of his indie Western Flint, starring Josh Holloway, on which we were first to report in April. Cast members newly aboard in major roles include Sarah Gadon (Ferrari), Max Martini (13 Hours), Dianna Agron (El Elegido), Mike Vogel (Sex/Life), and Charles Esten (Outer Banks).
Based on the Louis L’Amour novel of the same name, Flint has now wrapped production in Montana. The film centers on James Kettleman (Holloway), a hardened East Coast businessman who returns to the Montana frontier under the name Flint, the alias of the notorious killer who raised him. As he’s pulled into a violent range war, a chance encounter with a strong-willed rancher forces him to reckon with the man he’s become — and the legacy he hopes to leave behind.

Gadon will play Nancy Kennigan, a strong, single woman forced to step into her father’s shoes after his passing to take over his ranch. Martini plays Porter Baldwin, a cutthroat East Coast businessman clawing his way back to respectability through a land swindle in the West. Agron portrays Lottie Kettleman, an East Coast socialite who traveled West after being abandoned by her wealthy husband. Vogel takes on the role of Buck Dunn, a long-range assassin, while Esten stars as Flint, the hired killer who, in taking young Kettleman in, is forced to become a father figure.
Kristoffer Polaha (The Shift), Forrie J. Smith (Yellowstone), Bailey Chase (Homestead), MŌRIAH (Reagan) and Forrest Goodluck (What We Hide) round out the cast.
Producers on the project include Ken Carpenter (The Shift), Holloway, Jerilyn Esquibel (The Unbreakable Boy), Mark Pentecost (Florida Wild) and Beau L’Amour, son of the author. Tirian Films, the recently formed production shingle of Whitaker and Carpenter, and The Pentecost Group are producing, with UTA Independent Film Group handling North American sales.
